The first of its kind: Isle of Wight Stock photo and video website launches
In 2024, the island saw the launch of its very own stock website - Isle of Wight Stock. Created on the island, for the island.
The vision for the website is to act as a bridge between businesses and creatives, bringing together an array of assets to launch a first of its kind website for the island. This will allow islanders to download high-quality photos and videos of their most loved places and views, as well as hidden gems.
“Isle of Wight Stock is a stock image and video website, built for the Isle of Wight. Here we boast of an extensive and beautiful collection of assets from a range of trusted island- based creators. Not only do we offer great prices for our customers, but extensive licence options that are royalty free, covering the UK, Europe and the US that you can access with the click of a button.
We are determined to achieve 3 things:
- That local businesses would be empowered to use quality assets, at a good price, to enable them to build brands that impact the lives of islanders directly. We feel that they should not have to rely on extensive searches across the big stock platforms, to then be tied into lengthy contracts.
- That creatives here on the island would have a direct link to businesses to enable share their photos and videos, but also to see their work impact others in profound ways, and to champion our Island for what it really is - a paradise.
- Finally, our vision is to see the brand of the Island itself change for the better. That we’d move away from ‘buckets and spades’, and we’d see the Island promoted for what it is – a cultural epicentre, brimming with lush beautiful countryside, historical landmarks, and home to the best beaches in the UK.
“This is our vision, and we are excited for each and every one of you to enjoy what we have to offer”.
The creator of the site, Reuben Mowle, has said that the site was born from some early wins and equally, great frustrations.
“I’ve been working in film and photo for over 7 years, and in that time I’ve shot a lot of our beautiful island. Last year I started focusing on curating content focused on our coastlines and natural beauty. I was fortunate enough to be approached by some really great island brands, asking to licence the photos and videos. I started to see a pattern of brands and businesses looking for quality assets that were homemade with favourable licensing. From this, the idea for Isle of Wight Stock was born. However, I am not a web developer. I have spent hundreds of hours, learning the ins and outs of how to build the site. Now, 9 months later, we have reached the launch. It’s much more that a site with one creator, we have the privilege of representing some of the best talent the island has to offer.”
